For ab medica, sustainability means a tangible and daily commitment to striking the right balance between the creation of economic value, environmental protection and social responsibility in the planning of business strategies. From this commitment stems the desire to voluntarily follow, implement and monitor a series of standards.
Our headquarters, Casa ab medica, is a case in point: it is a building designed to minimise land occupation and promote energy efficiency without neglecting the psychological and physical well-being of the people who work there; polluting emissions are reduced to a minimum and the building’s façade is made almost entirely (95%) of recycled glass. All in pursuit of the company’s vision.
The state-of-the-art air conditioning system consists of several heat pumps, while a well built specifically for the company collects water, which is then controlled and subsequently re-used for a variety of business purposes, giving it a new lease of life.
The temporary waste storage area – managed by an identification CER code – is designed so as to limit any possible form of soil contamination, while, for disposal, the company is a member of the Ecolight Consortium.
ab medica has implemented several initiatives designed to help spread a culture of responsibility within the company, with the aim of making sustainability a driver for growth of the group and a fundamental pillar of corporate policies.
Less plastic
There is an ardent desire to reduce our use of plastic. Every employee is given a water bottle and several water dispensers have been installed throughout the building, while the canteen and catering services use compostable materials.
A green philosophy
ab medica is committed to taking care of public green spaces in its local area and, over the years, has reclaimed a number of asbestos roofs from both small and large buildings. It has always used office paper and cardboard made from recycled materials and only uses ISO 14001-certified transport companies.
A gesture of care inspired by nature
Caring4bees is ab medica’s beekeeping project, created in partnership with Apicoltura Urbana. Four beehives and over 240,000 bees now inhabit the garden of our Lainate headquarters — a tangible act of care aimed at restoring biodiversity in urban environments and raising awareness of the vital role bees play in supporting both our well-being and the health of the planet.
